The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Charles Trenet - La Mer

The soundtrack for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly has a very short, but oh-so-very-sweet, tracklist. You might have some of these songs in your collection already, but I strongly recommend seeking out the ones that you're missing. My personal favourites are Charles Trenet's "La Mer" and the Dirtbombs covering J.J. Barnes' much-overlooked jam, "Chains of Love".
If you haven't seen The Diving Bell and the Butterfly [French title: Le scaphandre et le papillon], you should watch it. It's a great film. It won a bunch of awards at Cannes and the Golden Globes last year, and there's a Blockbuster near you that is trying to relieve itself of 100 previously-viewed copies of the DVD. You shouldn't be too hard-pressed to find it. (Watch it in French. I've seen the film twice: once in the original French with subtitles, and once dubbed in English, and the subtitled translation is far superior.)
