Noel Ellis - Memories
Jamaica to Toronto: Soul Funk & Reggae, 1967-1974 (Light in the Attic, 2006)

This is another track that I salvaged from Jamaica to Toronto. Noel Ellis created it in some lonely echo chamber somewhere. It's an incredibly desolate and lo-fi recording.
Stranger & Ken - Artibella
Mr. Rock Steady (Studio 1, 1968) [?]

Ken Boothe and Stranger Cole paint an intense picture of a jealous, heartbroken breakdown after a breakup. I know, that's a lot of breaking. It's the moment just before words fail you, where you just keep repeating the same pathetic things over and over.
Stranger & Ken are backed by the legendary Skatalites, who are perfect at conveying seething, about-to-boil-over emotion.

(I'm still loving the Atlas Sound album: I'm not sure which cover art I like the best. They're both so strange and beautiful.)
