some things from december

20 SONGS (139MB)

I generally dislike these mega posts because the overload of mp3s encourages picking and choosing, whereas ideally I like to think that people might listen to all the songs I post on this blog at least once. (Perhaps that's just a deluded fantasy of mine. Probably.) But, anyways. . . it's been a long time and I have some catching up to do. So here's a bunch of great tracks that I've come across over the last month. And here's all of them in a 139MB zip file.

a few other random things:

Kanye West - Drunk and Hot Girls (feat. Mos Def)
In one of his writeups on music in 2007, Marathonpacks reflects on a terribly bitter (and deeply troubling) reality hidden amongst all the bright lights and celebration of Kanye West's album, Graduation, and the thoughts have stayed on my mind over the last week. You can read it here.

Lupe Fiasco - Paris, Tokyo
I've long since professed my love for the comma. My unhealthy obsession leads me to speculate: Is it mere coincidence that the best song from Lupe's Food & Liquor, and now his second album, The Cool, both contain this delightful punctuation mark? I think not.
